Repairing a broken bag?

Today I tore one of the straps on my heavy pocketbook. I've done this before, and merely replaced the whole bag (since information technology was quondam and tatty anyway). But this is a relatively new bag and I don't have the coin to supersede it, so I have to repair it. Has anyone ever replaced one of these straps? How do you go about information technology?

Adept-

I am going to assume this is not a leather bag (at to the lowest degree where the straps attach).

I suggest if you don't have a heavy-duty sewing car that y'all take information technology to an upholsterer. They can put some fabric behind the surface area which ripped to reinforce it and and then sew a new strap.

Good luck, this has happened to me and it is depressing.

Duct tape and baling wire.... at least that'south how McGyver would practice it...

Actually Miles has the right thought. A professional upholsterer would have the machine to do it right... question would be if yous could afford the upholsterer?

You forgot that Macgyver can make a bomb out of gum!

Now, what the other guys said is to accept the bag to an upholsterer and have them patch it upward for you.

I accept to agree to accept it to a upholster or a banner-making sif=gn company to sew in re-enforced webbing and "d" rings.

Cheers all. I took the pocketbook into the upholsterer today, and they fixed it up for me for only $5.00

I've as well taken this opportunity to re-hang the pocketbook and then information technology minimises wear on the straps.

Yep, I was pleasantly suprised. It took them less than half an 60 minutes to practise it as well.

I usually buy the "navy" duffle handbag and it holds up well crusade the canvas holds up past bounding main-worthiness design.

I usually buy the "navy" duffle bag and it holds upwardly well cause the sheet holds upward by body of water-worthiness design.
This was my first heavy handbag-in 1975. I got free sawdust from a local lumbermill and sand from the beach. It was a keen purse....til it ripped.

The sand/weight was the thing that hurt it.....

A bag such every bit that was not designed to carry sand......

mine final seemingly forever......
